Victor A. GRAUER - Aliens among us
Cast of characters

Cast of Characters :

This play is designed so that no more than four characters are present in any given scene. As a result , despite the large “cast ,” a minimum of only four actors is required (though it is certainly possible to use more). Each character should be identified by a distinguishing feature, such as article of clothing, mask, hair style, etc., as specified in the descriptions provided below. N.B., the characters’ ages are provided only to give an idea of how the character should behave. Any character can be played by anyone of any age, male or female so long as the characteristic props are worn.

El Presidente - a male in his fifties. Wears a T Shirt labeled “El Presidente.”

Agent Mauve - a female in her late twenties. Wears a long, mauve colored wig.

Mr. Secretary - a male in his late forties. Wears a T shirt labeled “Mr. Secretary”.

Mr. Assistant to the Secretary - a male in his twenties. Wears a jacket and tie.

Agent Orange - a male in his early thirties. Wears a leather jacket and bright orange, “punk style” wig, with hair standing straight up.

Alien Chief — Male — ancient. Wears a large mask (or blowup photo) modeled on the features of the reptilian, skeletal monsters of the movie Alien.

Other aliens - These characters wear large skull-like masks (or blowup photos), featuring large eyes, outsized heads, thin, emaciated necks, modeled on the benign, precocious looking extraterrestrials of so many science fiction movies, such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind or ET. The “Alien Disguised as a CIA Agent” of scene 8 should wear exactly the same type of mask, but also a T Shirt labeled “CIA.”

Male Anchor - a male in his mid sixties. Wears T shirt which reads : THE SURGEON GENERAL HAS DETERMINED THAT THIS WARNING MAY BE HARMFUL TO YOUR HEALTH

Female Anchor - a female in her late twenties. Wears T shirt which reads : FEAR YOUR FOOD.

The Professor - a male in his early sixties. Wears a white beard and a long white wig done in a pony tail.

Street Person - a male in his late fifties. Wears an unkempt business suit and tie.

FBI Agents - males in their mid thirties. Wear T shirts labeled “FBI”.

Eating Man - a male in his mid forties. His shirt should be stuffed to indicate that he is very fat.

Starving Child - a blow-up photograph of a third world child suffering from severe malnutrition. The photograph should be chosen for its similarity to space aliens of the ET or Close Encounters type. The actor playing this role should be hidden behind the blowup.

Little Randolph - an extremely precocious child of only three months. Played by a basketball with a smiley face and orange hair sticking straight up. The actor reading Randolph’s lines should be hidden behind the props.

Spectators/Followers of the Street Person - middle aged males wearing bow ties.

N.B. No sets are needed, just a few appropriate props. In many cases a table and some chairs will be all that’s necessary. The scenic descriptions provided below can be projected or read aloud. It is not necessary to provide a realistic setting for each scene.

Voice over loudspeaker :

“Shortly after the turn of the Millennium. In a universe parallel to our own . . .”
